Marvelous!

You... Look... Marvelous.⠀(Said in the voice of Billy Crystal doing his Fernando’s Hideaway bit for SNL approximately a million & a half years ago.)⠀
⠀
If you had told 14-year-old me that I would like roaches as an adult, I would have found the idea repulsive. Not even laughable. Just repulsive. ⠀
⠀
But it’s true. And I don't just like this roach. It is one of my all-time favorite critter finds — roach or otherwise.⠀
⠀
I believe he's is a Marvelous Forest Roach (Paratropes bilunata), but welcome corrections or confirmation, as always.⠀
⠀
Can you believe this stunner is a roach? ⠀
⠀
When I first saw it from a bit of a distance at La Selva Research Station, I jumped to the conclusion it was a beetle. But when I got closer, I realized it was a roach. And not just any roach. Easily the prettiest roach I’ve bumped into. ⠀
⠀
I may have gotten more than just a little bit excited. 😉 ⠀
⠀
I think the “Marvelous” part of his name is absolutely appropriate. ⠀
⠀
He was about an inch (25 mm) long & his wings & pronotum were very fuzzy with setae (hairs), all of which added to his charm & Marvelousness.⠀
